Okay, you are sitting in your car waiting for this guy to come out and do something….anything. Wash a car, chop some wood, jump on a trampoline, anything…anything so you can get some good video and go home.

Investigators are all different. Some listen to music. Some listen to books on tape. Some prefer to keep as silent as possible. Here’s my humble recommendation.

This American Life“. It’s a radio show. According to their website;

“Ira Glass, host of This American Life, was named “America’s Best Radio Host” by Time magazine in 2001. Glass began This American Life in 1995. He has developed a distinctive style of reporting and producing, creating stories that were intimate, funny and surprising.”

If you have a iPod then you can subscribe to their podcast free from iTunes. It’s on National Public Radio (NPR) and is 1 hour of great story telling. You’ll love it. If you don’t have an iPod they even have a CD subscription service. Or you can try and catch them at their scheduled time on NPR.

I call them “driveway stories”. Because, if I’m listening to a live radio show and get home before it ends, I sit in my driveway and listen to the rest of the show.

Some time ago they did a story about a private investigator, “Watching The Detective”, very funny. It’s available on the CD, “Crimebusters + Crossed Wires“. On the same CD is a story called “Squirrel Cop”, which is equally funny.

Happy Hunting!
